Patient Access - Online Appointments
We now offer our patients the use of a secure website on the Internet to:
- View and request repeat medication
- View, book, and cancel appointments
- View information from your care record.
Please come to the surgery and register for this service. You will need to bring in photo ID and a proof of your current address.
Please telephone during opening times. If you require an URGENT appointment the Receptionist will arrange this for you as early as possible but it may not always be with the Doctor of your choice or on the same day.
If you cannot attend an appointment or wish to cancel because the problem you had has been resolved, please let us know as soon as possible. A limited number of appointments are available and if you cannot attend, your appointment will be useful to another patient who also has a need to see the Doctor or Nurse.
If you do not cancel your appointment and do not turn up there are various effects this has on the surgery:-
- An increase in the waiting time for appointments
- Frustration for both Staff and Patients
- A waste of resources
So, if you no longer require your appointment please contact the surgery as early as possible to cancel it and therefore help other patients who may be of need of your appointment.
Did not attend (DNA) appointments
We are now monitoring all DNAs currently for doctors only and with time nurses and Health Care Assistants. If you do not cancel your appointment then we will write to you. After three missed appointments in the year we will request you to be removed from our list. If there is a genuine problem then please write to us and we will take this into consideration. As you can understand that DNAs is a waste of resources and patient that genuinely need an appointment are unable to get one. We are therefore monitoring DNAs in order to reduce the wastage.
Need to speak to a Doctor on the phone
Doctors have a specific time to make calls and the Receptionists will advise you on this.
To help you to remember your appointment booked at the surgery we can send you an automatic text message reminder about your appointment. This will only work if we have your correct mobile number on our system. Please check with the surgery that we have your correct mobile number if you do not receive an automatic reminder. This service will not work if you have booked your appointment on the day.
If you are too ill to come to the surgery please telephone as early as you can. The Doctor can assess your problem and arrange a visit if appropriate. Whenever possible, please attend the surgery to allow us to offer a better service to all.
